Three Cardinals competed in the annual ITA regional tournament, this year hosted by Williams Fri.-Sun., Sept. 27-29. All three participated in singles as Clare DuBrin '15 (right side photo) dropped her first-round match to a Middlebury foe, then captured her first consolation match against a Brandeis rival before falling in her final match to a player from MIT. Grace Smith '14 (left side photo) opened with a win over an Endicott entry before losing to a Trinity opponent. Olivia Koh '17, entered as an alternate, was allowed to compete in the consolations and came up short against a Williams rival. Koh and DuBrin teamed up for doubles play as well, dropping a tight battle to an MIT pair before winning a consolation match vs. a Trinity couple, then falling to an Amherst duo.
Wesleyan's next event was the Conn. College tournament Sun., Oct. 6. Due to bad weather forcing the action indoors, the even became little more than a three-team scrimmage between Wesleyan, Conn and Trinity. Seven Cardinals played a [air of singles matches against opponents from the other colleges, and all went 1-1 while playing eight-game pro sets. Doubles was also contested during the activity.
Wesleyan was to play a dual match at Hartford Mon., Oct. 7, but continued bad weather postponed the match with a makeup date TBA. Ahead for the squad is the New England Championships hosted in the Pioneer Valley area among Mount Holyoke, Smith and Amherst Fri.-Sun., Oct. 18-20.
