Women's Squash Makes Short Work of Three Opponents in Boston to Up Record to 4-0 This Season
Women's squash stands 4-0 in the early going thanks to the efforts of #1 Mary Foster '14, #2 Lauren Nelson '15, #5 Nell Schwed '14, #6 Claire Miller '15 (photo) and #7 Miranda Linsky '14. All five of these players have gone 4-0 to begin the year without surrendering a game for the 18th-ranked Cardinals. During the team's venture to Boston Sat., Nov. 23 for the Boston Round Robin, the Cardinals emerged with 9-0 sweeps of Northeastern and Boston College, both matches played at Harvard, with all individual matches decided 3-0. Miller was most impressive during these outing, allowing just seven total points to her two rivals.
Going up against #23 Wellesley to close out the Boston trip, Wesleyan prevailed 8-1 as #9 Abigail Smith '17 joined the other five with a 3-0 win. She played each of the three matches in Boston with 3-0 wins to her credit after moving into the starting lineup. At #3, Annie Maxwell '15 added a 3-2 victory, winning 11-7 in the deciding game, while #8 Hannah Plon '16 took a 3-1 decision.
Wesleyan will have a couple of weeks before returning to match mode Sat., Dec. 7, taking on Smith to open the annual Wesleyan Round Robin. The Cardinals will also play three matches on Sunday to close out the first semester's action.
