Handing duties at 184 pounds for the Cardinals during three dual matches held at Trinity Sat., Jan. 18, Simon Levin '16 (left side photo) came through with two solid wins and a representative performance against one of the top men in the country at his weight. Levin defeated his Trinity rival, 7-0, helping the Cardinals to a 36-9 victory, then gave Wesleyan six points against WPI with a second-period pin, but it wasn't enough as Wesleyan fell, 21-15. In his final match of the day, Levin faced David Welch, ranked fourth nationally, and fell by a respectable 9-1 count.
Also with a solid day on the mat was 157-pounder Ed Pierce '17 (right side photo), who had a pair of tight decisions vs. Trinity and WPI before falling to his RWU nemesis, 13-5. Ryan Sblendorio '15 also got to wrestle three times, as Trinity forfeited four weight classes, producing wins against Trinity and RWU while yielding a tight decision to his WPI rival. On the day, the Cardinals were victorious in 11 of 23 matches wrestled.
Up next for the team is the always exciting and challenging NEWA Duals, this season hosted by Bridgewater St. Sun., Jan. 25.
