Anna Lu '17 is Two-Event Winner at Hamilton as Cardinals Come up Short, 130-109
Capturing six first-place finishes among 13 events during a NESCAC affair at Hamilton Sat., Jan. 4, Wesleyan came up 21 points short on the final score as the Continentals came away with a 130-109 triumph. While Wesleyan's next meet will be at home Sat., Jan. 18 with visits from Conn. College and Williams in a three-way NESCAC affair that will be webcast, the squad will head to the warmer climate of Florida for an eight-day training mission between meets.
Anna Yu '17 (photo) was victorious in both distance free events, winning the 1000 free by an eight-second margin and the 500 free by a 6.5-second differential. Wesleyan also got individual swim wins from Angela Slevin '15 in the 200 free and Rachel Hisrch '15 in the 200 breast. Winning the one-meter dive was Natasha Cucullo '15. Wesleyan also claimed top prize in the 400 medley relay to inaugurate the meet as Slevin, Roxy Capron '14, Alyssa Savarino '14 and Serena Zalkowitz '17 combined for a 2.4-second conquering.
Hamilton's control of the sprint free proved to be the difference in the meet as the Continentals outpointed the Cardinals by 18 in the 50 and 100 free (28-10) while also coming up with a 13-4 margin in the 400 free relay.
