Women's Swim Wraps up .500 Dual-Meet Season with 12th Straight Victory over Coast Guard

With Angela Slevin '15 (main photo) winning both the 200 and 500 freestyle while Rachel Hirsch '15 (photo insert upper right) came through with a pair of wins in the breaststroke (100 and 200), Wesleyan captured first place in 10 of 14 swimming events on its way to a 171-124 triumph over Coast Guard Sat., Feb. 1 in the final dual meet of the season.  Up next for the squad is the annual NESCAC Championships, this year hosted by Williams Fri.-Sun., Feb. 14-16.  Wesleyan concluded the dual-meet season with a 6-6 record.

Slevin also was part of the Cardinals' victorious 200 medley relay, along with Roxy Capron '14, Alyssa Savarino '14 and Liz Baumgartner '15.  Baumgartner was an individual winner in the 100 backstroke.  Anna Lu '17 won the 1000 free and teamed with Savarino, Capron and Serena Zalkowitz '17 for first place in the 200 free relay.  Zalkowitz added a 50 free title to her accomplishments on the day.  Accounting for Wesleyan's other win was Liyan Yao '16 in the 200 backstroke.

Wesleyan is now 13-1 all-time vs. Coast Guard after posting its 12th consecutive victory vs. the Bears.
