Amy Lindland '14 Goes 3-for-3 with a run, Alex Sarkowsky '14 Lashes 2-run 2B in Softball win vs. USM, Then Loss to Rowan

Alex Sarkowsky '14 (#3, main photo) capped a four-run 4th inning for the Cardinals with a two-run double off the left-field fence as Wesleyan came back from an early 3-0 deficit to claim a 7-4 win over Southern Maine in Florida Wed., March 19.  Amy Lindland '14 (#1, photo insert lower left) was another offensive spark plug by going 3-for-3 with a run scored.  Amanda Roosa '16 settled in after USM scored three runs in the 1st, holding the Huskies to just one run over the next five innings as Wesleyan recovered for the win.  Laura Getchell '14 tossed the final inning, giving up one hit with a strikeout to pick up a save.  Despite being outhit, 10-7, the Cardinals got some productive plays as a bases-loaded walk to Mollie Grunat '16 was the only RBI in a three-run 2nd that had three walks and two errors.  Down 4-3 in the tpo of the 4th, Weseyan tied the game on an RBI infield grounder by Christina Zaccardi 17, then took the lead on a single by Jill Gately '15 before Sarkowsky padded the lead with her two-bagger.

In tha day's second game, Su Pardo '16 was touched for nine hits while striking out nine as Rowan puched across five runs, only one of whixch was earned, as the Cardinals were guilty of four errors.  Abby Rutt '17 had one of the Cardinals' four hits in the contest, extending her hitting streak to seven games.  She leads the team with a .462 average and 12 RBI, more RBI than any other two Cardinals combined.  Pardo has 57 strikeouts in 37 innings of work and has yiielded just one earned run in her last 22 innings of action.

The Cardinals conclude their Florida trip Thurs., March 20 with games against Plymouth St. and Keene St.
