Wesleyan opened the spring campaign by traveling to Warwick, R.I. for the RIC Invitational Fri.-Sat., April 4-5 and came away 16th of 17 teams. Wesleyan totaled 719 as a team while the team title went to host RIC with a 632 score.
Wesleyan was led by Paul Andrick '16 with a 93-85-178 score. Right behind with a 89-90-179 total was Brad Improta '14 (photo). Andrick was tied for 56th among 83 players while Improta finished in a tie for 58th. Placing 61st for Wesleyan was Tommy Hartnett '14 with a 90-90-180 score. Colin O'Keeffe '17 (90-92-182) rounded out the Cardinals' scoring four while Terence Farina '14 carded a 105-98-203 score as the fifth Cardinal player.
The second event of the spring was a trip to Williams Sat.-Sun., April 19-20 for the NESCAC Spring Opener. There Andrick again led the way with an 84-86-170 total. As a team, Wesleyan placed eighth of the eight participating squads.
The Cardinals concluded spring action Wed., April 23 back at Williams in the annual Little Three matches. Wesleyan took a couple of singles matches vs. the Lord Jeffs as Andrick and Atreya Sinha '17 both captured a 3 & 2 decision, making the team score 10-2 for Amherst. Wesleyan was swept by Williams with Andrick closest among the known individual results, falling 4 & 3. The Little Three matches use a 12-point scoring system with eight individual match-play points in the afternoon, preceded by four alternating-shot pairs matches in the morning for four points.
