Defeating Conn. College for the sixth time in the last seven meetings of the team while improving the overall mark vs. the Camels to 21-19, the Cardinals took every set and surrendered no more than two games in any doubles match to run their NESCAC mark this season to 3-4, 5-7 overall with the 9-0 victory. The squad then traveled to #3-ranked nationally Amherst Sat., April 19, falling by a 9-0 score, making the Cardinals 3-5, 5-8.
Three Cardinals were winners on both singles and doubles vs. Conn as Grace Smith '14 won at #2, 6-1, 6-3, while teaming with Olivia Koh '17 (photo lower left) for an 8-1 win at #1 doubles. Koh also won her singles match at #3 impressively, 6-1, 6-0. She leads the team with a 7-4 singles record this spring. Upping her singles mark to 6-5 was #4 Anna Howard '15 (main photo) as she produced a 6-1, 6-2 triumph. She joined Cameron Arkin '17 for an 8-2 conquering at #2 doubles. Clare DuBrin '15 was a 6-2, 6-0 victor at #1 singles while Jessican Seidman '16 came through with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #5. Ella Lindholm -Uzzi '17 won her first varsity collegiate match, earning a 7-5, 6-3 win at #6. Wesleyan final point came from the #3 doubles tandem of Nicki Softness '14 and Maddie James '16 with an 8-2 win.
Against Amherst, Smith secured six games agaist her Lord Jeff adversary while Howard got five as the top two Wesleyan performances.
The season comes to a close Sat., April 26 with a home match vs. Bates.
