OWEN KIELY WINS NEW ENGLAND CROSS-COUNTRY CROWN, TAKES
12th AT NATIONALS FOR ALL-AMERICA HONORS

Kiely '06 placed 12th of 211 runners at the NCAA Division III Cross
Country Championship to become an All-American after winning a New England
Division III title a week earlier. Kiely also was named New England
Division III runner of the year by the national coaches association.
Kiely's finishes helped Wesleyan's men place 14th of 24 teams at Nationals and
second of 43 teams in New England.
Along with his All-America and All-New
England accolades, Kiely was first-team all-NESCAC as he came in second of 124
finishers during the NESCAC meet hosted by Wesleyan.
An academic all-NESCAC
performer in both cross country and indoor track in 2005-06, Kiely also
received first-team honors from CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine as a first-team District I
College Division Academic All-American in cross country and track, and a
third-team national Academic All-American.
Kiely made his first-ever trip to NCAA competition during the
outdoor season of 2005, placing ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Kiely also was honored as Wesleyan's male Maynard Award winner.
The Maynard award is presented annually to the top senior male and female
scholar-athletes at the University.
