Cardinals Finish Season with 2 Wins in Final 3 NESCAC West Games as Su Pardo '16 Sparkles in Circle - Jill Gately '15 Named All-NESCAC

Su Pardo '16 (#10, left side photo) picked up pitching wins vs. Amherst, 4-2, Sat., April 25 and Middlebury, 2-1, Sun., April 26 as Wesleyan closed out the softball season with a 14-17-1 overall record and 4-8 conference mark. Pardo threw five innings against the Panthers as she alternated innings with Julie McDonald '18 to begin the game, then settled in to close out the game with the final three innings of work. She picked up four strikeouts to bring her career total to 391, just six shy of the Wesleyan record. She allowed only three singles against Middlebury and no runs. Wesleyan got the only runs it needed in the bottom of the 1st inning as Izzy Linzer '17, who led the team with 37 hits and a .346 batting average, had a infield single, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. When Jill Gately '15 (#17, photo upper right) was hit by a pitch, she also stole second. At the plate, Rielly Wieners '17 (#24, photo lower right) slammed a double to the fence in left field, plating both Linzer and Gately. Pardo and McDonald did the rest, holding Middlebury to four hits.
