Su Pardo '16 Pitches Well, Leads Squad at the Plate but Cards Fall Twice to Middlebury in NESCAC West Action

Getting consistent pitching and timely hitting, including six extra-base hits over the course of the double-header, Middlebury took a pair of NESCAC West contests from Wesleyan in the conference opener for both teams, 4-3 and 6-1. The games were played Sun. March 29 at Hand High School in Madison, Conn. Middlebury is now 9-3 overall while Wesleyan fell to 6-8. In the opener, MIddlebury trailed for five innings after the Cardinals manufactured a run in the 1st with a leadoff walk to Izzy Linzer '17, a sacrifice by Mollie Grunat '16, a passed ball and then a wild pitch. Wesleyan pitcher Su Pardo '16 (#10, left side photo) kept the Panthers off the board until a pair of doubles in the 6th, one a blast to the fence in left center, and the other a blooper to left center that fell between the Cardinal outfielders, tied the count at 1-1.
