Julie McDonald '18 Pitches Softball Past Trinity in 1st Game of DH, Has Timely Hits in 2nd for Sweep-Team Then Takes ECSU to Extra Innings Twice Before Loss to Williams

Lefty Julie McDonald '18 (#7, right side photo) worked out of a couple jams, including a bases-loaded with one-out situation in the bottom of the 7th inning during the first game of a double-header between Wesleyan and Trinity Sat., April 11, to give Wesleyan a 3-2 victory. In the second game, Su Pardo '16 (#10, left side photo) gave up five hits and one run while the Cardinals pounded out 12 safeties to win 9-1 in five innings via the eight-run mercy rule. Wesleyan picked up wins number 12 and 13 vs. Trinity against 40 all-time losses, but has swept a double-header from its in-state rival twice in the last three seasons. The games were supposed to be played at Trinity but were moved to Wesleyan due to a wet field in Hartford. Trinity still batted as the home team. Trinity left runners at second and third in the 1st inning as McDonald ended the frame with two of her 11 strikeouts in the contest, a season high for her. The Bantams also left two aboard in the 5th after scoring its two runs to trim the Cardinals 3-0 lead to a single run.
