JENNA FLATEMAN '04, PAT MOFFETT '04 QUALIFY FOR NCAA DIV. III TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS
(Flateman Goes on to Place Fourth, Gain All-America Laurels)
Jenna Flateman '04 and Pat Moffett '04 both qualified for the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships hosted by Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. May 23-25, 2002.
It was the second outdoor trip to Nationals for Flateman and her fourth overall including the indoor season while Moffett made his first excursion. Flateman competed in the 100m event while Moffett qualified in the 110m high hurdles. After gaining a spot at Nationals with a qualifying time of :12.10 while placing second at the ECAC Div. III Championships, Flateman went on to place fourth nationally with a team-record time of :11.90. She earned a spot in the NCAA finals by logging the sixth-fastest heat time with a :12.11 clocking. Moffett ran a :14.72 during the trials of the NESCAC championships April 27 at Bates for his team record and NCAA qualifying time. However, at Nationals he ran a :15.26 in trials and did not qualifyi for the national finals.
Flateman is now a three-time All-American, finishing second in the 55m event indoors this season after placing fourth in the event during the 2001 indoor Championships. She placed 16th in the 100m race at last year's NCAAs and anchored the 4x100m relay to a 12th-place showing a year ago.
Flateman hails from Barre, Vt. and attended Northfield Mt. Hermon School in Northfield, Mass. and is a two-year starter on attack for Wesleyan's field hockey team. Moffett, a starting wide receiver on the football team, is from Westport, Conn. and attended Norwalk High School.
