MARION STOJ '74 INDUCTED IN CONNECTICUT SOCCER HALL OF FAME
(Two-Time College All-American Joins Seven Others as 2007 Inductees)

Dr. Marion Stoj '74, four-year men's soccer letterman at Wesleyan and two-time All-American, was one of eight individuals inducted in the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Farmington (Conn.) Marriott Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008. Hall of Fame award recipient Stoj is pictured at left with medal around his neck flanked by teammates and other well-wishers including his former head coach Terry Jackson (to Stoj's right), current Wesleyan head coach Geoff Wheeler (to Jackson's right) and Chairman of Wesleyan's Board of Trustees Jim Dresser '63 (to Stoj's left).
Presently a doctor of ophthalmology in Connecticut, and a Wesleyan parent (father of Amelia '02 who also was a four-year soccer veteran for the Cardinals), Stoj played under head coach Terry Jackson from 1970-73, helping the Cardinals compile a cumulative record of 28-16-3.  Named an All-American as a sophomore in 1971 after leading the team to a 7-4 mark with eight goals and two assists, Stoj gained All-American recognition a second time as a senior in 1973 as his seven goals paced the squad.  That year, Wesleyan captured a ECAC New England title by defeating Tufts, 2-1, in a semi-final, and upsetting previously undefeated (11-0) Middlebury in the championship game, 1-0.  Wesleyan finished with a 9-4-1 mark that season.
For his career, Stoj netted 15 goals and dished off three assists for 33 scoring points.
