HEAD COACH DREW BLACK POSTS 100TH CAREER WRESTLING VICTORY AT WESLEYAN

On Sunday, January 25, 2009, Wesleyan defeated the Coast Guard Academy, 33-9, to begin a series of three matches at home on the day.  That win provided Head Coach Drew Black, in his 11th season at the helm of Cardinal wrestling, with his 100th career victory.  After defeating Southern Maine, 25-16, and falling to Johnson & Wales, ranked first in New England and 21st nationally in Division III, by a close 21-18 count, Coach Black held a career mark of 101-93-1 with the Cardinals.
A 1992 graduate of Syracuse University and former head coach at Phoenix College in Arizona, Coach Black came to Wesleyan in 1998 and also serves as Wesleyan's strength and condition coach.  He led Wesleyan to its winningest-ever wrestling season in 2001-02 with a 17-2 dual-match record. Above, Coach Black is joined by his 2008-09 squad, some former team members, and directly in front of him, his son, Sean, and daughter, Leah.
