Ken Alrutz, Wesleyan University head men's and women's tennis coach,
received the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) New
England Division College Coach of the Year Award for 2006-07. The award was
presented at the USPTA's New England Division Spring Convention at the Ocean
Edge Resort in Brewster, Mass., May 18-20. Ken has 17 years of
head coaching experience, including three at Wesleyan University, and has
been the recipient of numerous coaching and teaching awards. He is
positively dedicated to all aspects of the great game of tennis.
Rikki Alrutz, Wesleyan University volunteer
assistant tennis coach and daughter of Ken Alrutz, joined her father in
winning the USPTA New England division 2007 seminar contest for their
outstanding presentation: Yoga and Pilates for Tennis - A Winning Doubles
Team. Rikki developed a program of Yoga and Pilates for athletes which
she teaches throughout the United States and Europe. The Alrutz duo will
present their award-winning seminar at the USPTA National Convention at
Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa, Fla. in September 2007 as part of the national
contest.
Rikki has professional tennis playing experience
and after taking several years off from professional competition, was
invited to play in France at the Le Coupe de Marseille a week ago,
winning seven matches in seven days to take the women's title.
