KEVIN LONEY HIRED AS FULL-TIME ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH

Kevin Loney, a 1999 graduate of Dickinson College who is working toward a graduate degree at Southern Connecticut State University, has been hired as a full-time assistant football coach at Wesleyan University, athletics director John Biddiscombe announced this week. Loney replaces Lou Brunelli, who served in the capacity on an interim basis for the 2002-03 academic year.
Most recently serving as inside linebacker coach for the Owls at Southern Connecticut during the 2002 season as a graduate assistant, Loney also had been an assistant coach at Norwich University for two seasons, handling wide receivers in 2000 and defensive ends in 2001. He also acted as academic monitoring coordinator for the Norwich football squad. Prior to Norwich, Loney assisted at his alma mater, Xavier High School in Middletown, Conn., for five years with a full year of coaching the freshman team (1999-00) as defensive coordinator as well as offensive and defensive backfield coach. He also worked at the Mount St. John School in Deep River, Conn. as a counselor, teacher's aide and assistant boy's basketball coach that year.
Loney will be handling the defensive line for the Wesleyan football team.
