On Friday, September 29, 2006, several members of the Wesleyan men's lacrosse
team visited Foundation High School in Milford, Conn. to participate in its Health
and Fitness Day. The Foundation High School is a state-approved high
school for students with special needs. Will Parker, assistant Wesleyan men's lacrosse
coach for the past eight seasons is a teacher at the school. Health and
Fitness Day is an annual event held in honor of Bobby Maguire, a former
student at the school who suffered from severe health issues and eventually
passed away from complications from his heart transplant. Bobby loved
everything about sports; participating or spectating. The staff and
students at Foundation School honor his memory every fall with a fun-filled
day. Students engage in a variety of sports activities and attend an
educational health fair in the afternoon. The Foundation students truly
enjoyed the time Wesleyan student-athletes spent with them and are still talking
about the visit.
