Wesleyan webcast 12 regular-season contests during
the fall of 2009, covering contests in football (4), men's soccer (2),
women's soccer (2), field hockey (2) and women's volleyball (2).
Wesleyan also webcast four
additional men's soccer games in the NESCAC and NCAA tournaments, bringing
the fall total to 16 contests. These webcasts included both video and
audio components. At the present time, games are available through
the same link used in the past -
<
http://condor.wesleyan.edu/openmedia/webcast/athletics.qtl
>. In order to watch the game, you need an up-to-date version of Quicktime,
usually Quicktime 7.
This is available free of charge at the following URL
<
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
>. To check to see if you have the right version of Quicktime on your
computer, click on the following sample clip. If you can get it to play,
then you have the program you need to view the broadcast -
<

>. This does not guarantee that you will be able to receive
the streaming video of the broadcast as we have experienced some
difficulties with remote locations. We continue to work on remedying
these problems but it appears most stem from the receiving location.
Modifications were made during Fall, 2009 which improved the quality of the
image and we hope that this has met with approval from our audience.
SPECIAL NOTICE TO THOSE WITH NEW MAC COMPUTERS - With the advent of Mac OS X
10.6 ("Snow Leopard") the standard Quicktime application (now called
Quicktime X) no longer recognizes or plays ".qtl" files. While users of PC
or older Mac platforms will be unaffected, anyone with the most up-to-date
Mac OS will not be able to view the broadcast simply by clicking on the
link. The solution is to download the .qtl file (which will happen when you
click on the "watch" link) and then open it using the *old* version of
Quicktime, Quicktime 7, which is in the Applications > Utilities folder of
the standard 10.6 install. Hopefully this works for everyone with a
new Mac.
The webcasts are currently limited to about
500 viewers at one time so please be courteous
and don't leave your connection active if you aren't watching the game.
We hope you enjoyed the contests courtesy of Wesleyan Institutional Media
Services and the
athletics department. Remember, fall broadcasts are
weather-dependent. If conditions are not accommodating, broadcasts may
not be possible. Please bear this in mind. Several webcasts had to be
cancelled in past years, unfortunately.
