The Wesleyan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams are part of the New England Small Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and compete at the NCAA Division II level. From a swimming standpoint, the NESCAC is considered one of the strongest and deepest conferences across the country. At the 2005 NCAA Championships, seven of the NESCAC teams finished among the top 20 in the final team standings.

The team's dual-meet schedule features some of New England's top Division III teams with a mix of in-conference and out-of-conference teams. Wesleyan, Amherst, and Williams make up the Little Three, one of the oldest rivalries in collegiate history. Other intense rivalries to look for are competitions with neighboring Trinity and Connecticut College as well as longtime opponent Bowdoin.

The program's official team practice begins November 1st. The team's training schedule consists of five afternoons and three morning workouts each week as well as those Saturdays when not competing. The morning workouts are optional, thus giving student-athletes the opportunity to make appropriate choices based on academic demands and training background. The training also includes an extensive dry-land program consisting of lifting three times a week as well as a dry-land circuit twice a a week focusing on core body strength exercises.

The coaching philosophy for the Wesleyan Swimming and Diving program is to strive to develop the student, the athlete and the person in each team member. With regard to training, the program strives to meet the needs of each team member in order to facilitate each individual's potential in a team environment.

The 2007-2008 season opens on November 17th at noon here at Wesleyan.

Final exams take place in mid-December, followed by several weeks of winter break. During this time the team will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico for its annual winter training trip. the high-intensity training and team bonding during this trip is a significant component of the program's preparation and development of team cohesiveness and fast swimming. Upon returning from Puerto Rico, the team continues to intense  training at Wesleyan until the dual-meet season resumes in mid-January.

Wesleyan swims most of its dual meets on Saturday afternoons in November, December, January, and February. an individualized taper program is conducted in February in order to prepare for the NESCAC and NCAA Championships.
