Brief Review of ECAC
Tournament: Downing no. 4 seed Brandeis in an exciting
five-game match, 23-21, 5-15, 14-16, 15-7, 15-10, Wesleyan, seeded
fifth, went on to upset top-seeded and host Middlebury in three
games during the semi-finals, 15-6, 15-7, 15-4. Meeting no. 7 seed
M.I.T. in the finals, Wesleyan defeated the Engineers for the
second time this season, 15-10, 9-15, 15-11, 17-15 for the title.
Last year, M.I.T. defeated Wesleyan in the opening round of the
ECAC tournament. With 55 kills and a 32.0 hitting percentage, 19
blocks, 30 digs and 10 aces over the 12 games of the tournament,
Alexis Keeler '02 was named MVP. Eliza Allen '03 produced 30 kills
against M.I.T. and Laura Cox '03 collected 33 digs. The 27-11
final team record is the winningest in Wesleyan history, eclipsing
the record set in 1991 when the team finished 24-11.
