Women's Volleyball Ends 2012 Campaign with 12th Straight NESCAC Win over Hamilton, 3-1

Improving their all-time mark vs. Hamilton to 20-4 with their 12th consecutive win over the Continentals, the Cardinals ended the 2012 season with a solid 3-1 win over Hamilton Sat., Oct. 27. Wesleyan did not get the help it was hoping for from Bates with a Bobcat victory over Trinity or Amherst in the closing weekend which would have given the Cardinals a NESCAC tournament spot. As a result, Colby, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit vs. Wesleyan Oct. 12 to capture a 3-2 triumph, earned the eighth and final spot in the NESCAC playoffs. Wesleyan closed out the year with some of its best play this season, capturing five of its final seven matches with wins over Bates, RIC, Southern Vermont, WPI and Hamilton. Against the Continentals in the finale, Kate Centofanti '14 (#9, photo lower left) racked up eight aces while Monica Leslie '14 (#7, photo upper left) had an effective afternoon in the hitting area with a team-leading 13 saves and a .522 efficiency along with three blocks. Right behind her was Kim Farris '14 (#2, photo lower right) with 12 kills and two blocks. Brenna Tharnstrom '16 (#5, photo upper right) supplied 37 assist in the Cardinal cause.
