Dreisen Heath '16 Has Season-High 16 Points & Big Late Basket as Women's Hoops Rallies Past Wellesley, 43-38, But Falters in NESCAC Game vs. Conn

Trailing 33-24 with 12:15 left in the game, Wesleyan went on a 10-0 run to regain the lead, 34-33, as Dreisen Heath '15 (#13, photo) had two of the five baskets during the burst on her way to a season-high and game-leading 16 points as the Cardinals ralied to defeat Wellesley, 43-38, Tues., Jan. 20 in a game played at Lasell. Wesleyan returns to the court Sat., Jan 24, hosting Conn. College in a NESCAC battle. The game will be webcast and have LiveStats. After Wellesley forged back into the lead, 35-34, the Cardinals took the lead for good at the 6:59 mark on a layup by Danielle Gervacio '17 for a 36-35 edge. When Heath canned a pair of free throws with 5:31 left, making her 6-for-6 from the line during the contest, Wesleyan had a 38-35 margin. The scores stayed unchanged for more than four minutes. At the 1:18 mark, Kaylie Williams '16 sank one of two free throws, but when the Blue retaliated with a three-pointer, the difference was one point, 39-38, with :41 to go. Heath then drove the right side and rolled in a layup with just :16 showing.
