Seniors Nikki Maletta '08 (#13, main photo), Stephanie Savas '08 (#12, photo insert lower left) and Lucy Sprung '08 (#34, photo insert upper left) have been named tri-captains for the highly anticipated 2007-08 Wesleyan women's basketball season. Maletta, a local native of Durham, Conn., is a psychology major who served as a key scoring force for the Cardinals from her starting guard spot during a solid 15-9 season in 2006-07. It was the seventh consecutive winning campaign for the Cardinals who are 124-49 (.717) over the span with six straight trip to the NESCAC tournament and two NCAA tournament at-large bids. Savas, a native of Brockton, Mass., is a history major who benchmarked defensive intensity on the perimeter this past season. Completing the tri-captainship is Sprung, a native of East Dover, Vt., and a biology major. Coming off a 2005 knee injury, Sprung has been a presence in the paint for the Cardinals and will continue to be an impact down low. Head Coach Kate Mullen expects this year's senior class to bring great leadership skills on and off the court, helping to lead the Cardinals to another very successful season in 2007-08.
