Ali Fourney '09 Receives Nod to All-Tourney Team at Brandeis as Cards Take Consolation Game
Collecting 36 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and nine steals over the two games during the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament, Ali Fourney '09 (#11, photo) picked up all-tournament recognition. Wesleyan fell to eventual tournament winner Kenyon in the opening round, 64-54, Fri., Nov. 16 before downing Mount Holyoke in the consolation tilt Sat., Nov. 17, 73-37. Wesleyan rolled out to a 22-4 advantage on Mount Holyoke 10 minutes into the game and continued to extend its lead to 21 at halftime. The Cardinals' lead was in the 20s or 30s throughout the second period. Eleven players scored for the team with no one but Fourney in double-figures (17). Kenyon moved in front of Wesleyan early on in their meeting, pulling ahead by 11 eight minutes into the game and holding a 19-point margin at the half. Wesleyan cut the gap to nine in the final minute but got no closer. The team has a date at St. Joseph in Hartford Tues., Nov. 27 for its next outing.
