Cardinals Come Through with Best Effort at Head of the Charles in 10 Years (11th) Before Ending the Fall at Head of the Fish in 4th Place

Women's Crew had its best finish at the Head of Charles Regatta in Boston since 2001 by finishing 11th of 29 crews in the Collegiate 8 Sun., Oct. 23 and gaining the automatic qualification for next year. The Cardinals passed both Simmons College and the US Military Academy over the 2.5 mile course. Coxswain Emma Overton '12 found her crew in a tight bunch approaching both the Weeks Bridge as well as the Eliot St. bridge. She was able to force the other crews to yield through these critical points on the race course gaining Wesleyan valuable seconds. Stroke Avery Mushinski '15, who rowed for CRI in high school, set the pace for the crew on her home waters. "I knew Avery would be pretty excited to be back on the Charles River and that she would set the aggressive rhythm that would help get the crew where it needed to be when it needed to be there. This race is all about setting up for the next bridge or the next turn", said Head Coach Pat Tynan.
