Wesleyan Uses Fall to Get Geared up for Year with Racing in Three Head Regatta Including the Charles

With two entries in the College Eight Event (non-Div. I), the Cardinals placed third and sixth of six boats during the Head of the Housatonic Regatta in Shelton, Conn. Sat., Oct. 10. It was the opening event of the fall for the squad. Williams ran away with the title (17:14.1) while Coast Guard was a distant second (18:20.4). Wesleyan was next in 19:12.9. The second Cardinal entry was timed in 21:00.4. The Housatonic River course covered about 2.7 miles.

Wesleyan placed its top boat in the Collegiate 8 race in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston Sat./Sun, Oct. 17/18, finishing 28th of 35 entries in a time of 19:56.9 over the three-mile course. Grand Valley State won the race with a pair of Williams entries finishing second and third.

In the final event of the fall, the Cardinals competed in the Collegiate 8 as well as the JV Collegiate 8 at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga, N.Y. Sun., Oct. 25. Over a two-mile course, Wesleyan placed 14th of 17 in the Collegiate 8 with a time of 14:13.7. Williams claimed a victory in the race. In the JV race, Wesleyan came in 11th of 13 with a 14:54.7 clocking.

The Cardinals will turn their attentions indoors for conditioning before returning to the water in the spring.
