Textile River Regatta - Sun., 10/5/14 in Lowell, Mass.
The women's crew had a strong first race of the year as the varsity 8 captured the title in the Club 8 event for the second year in a row, timed in 21:24.21 over the 5800m course. On board was Ava Miller-Lewis '17, Remy Johnson '16, Avery Mushinski '15, Emma Halter '17, Eva Frieden '15, Kelly Garrity '17, Hannah Brigham '17 and Ellen Paik '16 along with cox Brianne Weimann '15. Two other Cardinals entries snagged fifth and 11th place among the 15 entries. The second varsity, fastest among all second varsities in the event (22:32.00), featured cox Ari Rudess '15 and rowers Jill Moraski '16, Amanda Molitor '18, Emma Golub '16, Iryelis Lopez '17, Gillian Mahoney '15, Emily Garvin '15, Emma Raddatz '18 and Kate Suslovic '17 while the third varsity had Nicki Gershberg '18, Ceara Maria Burns '17, Becca Michelson '15, Annalee Holmdahl '17, Avery Kimmel '17, Nairi Touryan '16, Sarah Lazarus '17, Lydia Tokonow '17 and cox Erin Deleon '17 as its crew for a 23:28.96 clocking. Wesleyan's varsity 8 also competed in the Open 8 event with Mahoney subbing for Brigham and again took top honors among four boats with a time of 22:10.13.

Competing in the largest two-day rowing event in the world that draws some 9,000 athletes from all over the world along with 300,000 spectators, Wesleyan competed in the Collegiate 8 on Sunday, finishing 13th out of 30 crews. The lineup featured coxswain Brianne Weimann '15 and rowers Ava Miller-Lewis '17, Remy Johnson '16, Avery Mushinski '15, Emma Halter '17, Eva Frieden '15, Kelly Garrity '17, Hannah Brigham '17 and Ellen Paik '16.
