Ashleigh Corvi '13 Posts 1st Career Shutout & Glenn Hartman-Mattson '14 Scores Twice as Women's Ice Hockey Conquers Hamilton, 4-0
Backed by 37 saves from netminder Ashleigh Corvi '13 (#35, photo upper right), Wesleyan skated past Hamilton, 4-0, Sat., Feb. 4. Wesleyan snapped an 11-game winless streak, including 10 straight losses, to the Continentals with the victory, its first over Hamilton since 2005. Corvi also earned her first career shutout in the victory, which equalled Wesleyan's largest ever over the Continentals. Hamilton fell to 8-11 and 5-7 in NESCAC play with the defeat, while Wesleyan now stands 3-17 and 2-10 in conference action. Cara Jankowski '15 put Wesleyan on the board 14:45 into the second period. With Wesleyan on the power play, Hannah Jellinek '15 sent a pass from the right circle to Jankowski, who was just outside the left circle. Jankowski flipped the puck up and over the Hamilton goaltender for her second goal of the year. Wesleyan extended its advantage to 2-0 just 52 seconds later. Glenn Hartman-Mattson '14 (#6, right side of pack) took a pass at the right post and poked it in at 15:37 for her fourth goal of the season. Hartman-Mattson made it a 3-0 game 2:48 into the third frame, taking a pass from behind the net and again poking it past Hazlett for a two-goal afternoon.
