Rachel Stemerman '09 Logs 72 Saves Over Two Games at Trinity But Cards Suffer Two Shutouts

Holding Trinity to just one goal while making 37 saves in Wesleyan's season opener Fri., Nov. 16, goalie Rachel Stemerman '09 (#1, photo) did her best to keep the Cardinals in the contest despite a 38-16 shot differential. But Wesleyan could not light the lamp and the lone Bantam goal proved to be the game-winner. The teams completed their two-game series Sat., Nov. 17 and the result was similar as the Bantams held a 32-11 edge in shots and led 1-0 heading into the third period. This time, however, Trinity added a pair of insurance markers over a span of 2:24 near the midway point of the stanza to take a 3-0 decision. For the weekend, Stemerman had an outstading 94.7 save percentage and a 2.00 GAA. In the team's next game, that at Middlebury Sat., Nov. 24, Stemerman again was busy making 45 stops as the Panthers skated to a 4-0 home victory. Wesleyan ends its four-game road swing to start the year at Williams Sun., Nov. 25.
