A 1987 graduate of Providence College and member
of the ECAC championship Friars, Donna Wright
began her coaching career in her home state of
Connecticut. After graduation, she quickly became
involved in South Windsor's Youth Hockey
Association coaching at all levels from mite
in-house to bantam. From there she had a season's
stint at Manchester High School, several spring
and summer seasons with the New England Sharks
Organization, spent 1993-94 with Brown
University, and 1994-95 with Yale University.
Behind the Cardinal bench for seven years through
the 2001-02 season, Donna has achieved an overall
record of 81-78-13 during her time at Wesleyan.
Donna was named to the NCAA Division III Women's
Ice Hockey Championship Committee last year. In
addition to her hockey activities, Donna, who
holds the rank of adjunct assistant professor of
physical education at the University, serves as
an assistant women's lacrosse coach in the spring
and is the liaison to club teams for the athletic
department.
Kurt
Amidon - Assistant Coach
Bringing with him a variety of playing
and coaching experiences, Kurt Amidon joined the Cardinal
bench in 2000-01 and will be assisting for a third
season. Kurt began his hockey career in Germany but after
his family moved to Connecticut, he played at the
Wesleyan Arena for the local Middlesex Youth Hockey
Organization before becoming a prep school player at The
Gunnery School. From there he played junior hockey
(Rochester, N.Y.), went on to ECAC Division III hockey
(North Adams State), and finally completed his collegiate
career and degree at Utah State University where he was a
captain. At an early age, Kurt also began coaching. He
has coached for Middlesex Youth Hockey, the Rick Heinz
Hockey School, Utah State University, as well as summer
roller hockey camps. Kurt is a Connecticut resident and a
civil engineer at Haley & Aldrich in Glastonbury. He
recently completed his master's degree in civil
engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
