Cortney Tetrault '07, Sarah Orkin '09 & Jen Bianculli '07 Nab All-NESCAC Second-Team Honors

Following the Cardinals fine 8-6 season which featured a first-ever winning NESCAC record (5-4) and the third seed in the NESCAC tournament, three Wesleyan players earned second-team all-NESCAC honors after a vote of the conference mentors. Receiving accolades was top scorer Cortney Tetrault '07 (#10, left in main photo), who collected 16 goals and 31 assists for 47 points. She ranked fourth in the conference in assists and eighth in points. Defensive stalwart and team co-captain Jen Bianculli '07 (#19, photo insert lower left) also gained recognition. She led the team in caused turnovers with 25 and grabbed an equal number of ground balls while contributing seven goals and two assists on the offensive side. Sarah Orkin '09 (#21, right in main photo) was the third Cardinal honored as she finished second on the squad in goals with 26 while leading in draw controls with 20 and ranking second in ground balls with 38. Ranked 13th in the IWLCA national Division III poll, Wesleyan defeated NCAA qualifiers Endicott and Eastern Conn. during the season while falling by narrow margins to Middlebury and Trinity, the two NESCAC representatives to the NCAAs. The IWLCA released its regional all-stars and four Wesleyan players were among those honored. Bianculli and Orkin were first-team Berkshire Region choices while Tetrault and Lisa Zweigenhaft '09 garnered second-team laurels. Bianculli and Tetrault went on to play in the IWLCA North-South senior all-star game in Downingtown, Pa. Sat., June 16, with Bianculli netting the game's final goal for the North as the South won, 6-3.
