Cards Can't Quite Recover from Four-Goal Deficit vs. Tufts and Fall in NESCAC Action, 9-7

Despite a hat trick from Sophia Kim '08 (#12, photo courtesy of SteveMcLaughlinPhotography, com), Wesleyan could not come all the way back from a 7-3 halftime deficit at home vs. Tufts Sat., March 22, falling by a 9-7 score. Wesleyan got the opening two goals of the second period, both by Allie Lynch '11 off nifty feeds from Schuyler Swenson '09, to make it a 7-5 contest. But the Cards could get no closer as Tufts pulled ahead 8-5 with 16:18 to go. Kim then netted her third goal of the game at 9:11, again making it a two-goal margin. Wesleyan had a few chances to narrow the gap to one but could not capitalize as Tufts held firm for the 9-7 victory. In goal, Rachel Stemerman '09 stopped 10 Jumbo offerings. Wesleyan moves out of conference for its next game, a first-ever meeting with Endicott Thurs., March 27 at home.
