Cardinals Finish on their Seed at NEWA Duals with 2-2 Record for 7th Place - Isaiah Bellamy '18 Named to All-NEWA Squad - Cards Win 4 Bouts vs. Pride in 25-12 Loss

Seeded seventh of 15 teams at the annual NEWA Duals, this year hosted by Springfield Sun., Jan. 25, the Cardinals posted a 2-2 record, defeating 10th seeded Western New England, 23-18, in the first round, then falling to second-seeded Johnson & Wales, 34-12, and third-seeded Williams, 28-13, before ending with a win over eighth-seeded WPI, 22-15. Next up for the team was a dual meet at Springfield, which placed fourth at the NEWA Duals, Fri., Jan. 30. The Cardinals won four of the nine bouts wrestled, falling by a 25-12 score. Ahead is the first home action of the season as the Cardinals host Williams, Oneonta St. and Southern Maine Sat., Feb. 7. All three matches will be webcast. In total, the Cardinals won 16 of the 33 matches competed at the NEWA Duals as Joe Koshokow '17 (photo insert lower right) won both his matches at 174 with one-point decisions against JWU and Williams along with a forfeit victory. Isaiah Bellamy '17 (main photo) also went 2-0 with a pin at 197 against JWU and a decision at heavyweight vs. WPI along with a forfeit win for a 3-0 day. He was one of 14 wrestlers, and the only one at 197 pounds, named to the all-NEWA squad.
