
Wesleyan had two wrestlers make the finals during the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield Sat., Nov 17 - Greg Hurd '10 (main photo) at 174 pounds and Dan Bloom '10 (photo insert lower left) at 125 pounds. Hurd, who went 3-1 in a field of 23 wrestlers, came into the tournament ranked seventh nationally in Division III. His loss in the finals came to the sixth-ranked wrestler nationally, Brandon MacWhinnie of Stevens Tech, 8-1. Bloom dropped an 8-4 match to Rickey Redd of Centenary in his title bout, giving him a 4-1 mark. The Cardials had one other place-taker as Chris Alvanos '11 went 5-2 to finish fourth at 125. There were 31 competitors at 125 pounds in the tournament. As a team, Wesleyan finished ninth of 18 competing squads. The next action for the squad will be the annual R.I.T. Invitational Sat., Dec. 1.
