Cardinals Pick up First Dual Win at North-South Duals Hosted by Ursinus, Downing Johns Hopkins


Opening the North-South Duals at Ursinus with a 22-14 victory over Johns Hopkins, the Cardinals picked up their initial dual-match victory of the year Sat., Jan. 5. Things did not continue to go as well for the squad in their next three matches as the team fell to Wartburg (ranked second in Division III), 49-0 ; lost to Messiah in a tight affair, 24-21 ; and dropped a 28-6 decision to host Ursinus. Zach Rolfe '10 (photo) was one of three Cardinals to post a pair of victories at the North-South duals including a solid 9-4 decision at 157 pounds in the triumph over Johns Hopkins. John Gottfried '09 at 197 pounds and Dan Conroy at heavyweight also posted a pair of wins. Wesleyan inaugurates the home schedule Wed., Jan. 9 with a visit from Trinity.
