Cora Lautze '11 Nets First Career Goal but Cardinals End up One Goal Short vs. RIC
Though Wesleyan held an 8-0 edge in shots during the opening 30 minutes of the contest vs. Rhode Island College Wed., Oct. 3, RIC drew first blood with its initial shot and carried a 2-0 lead into halftime. The Cardinals responded with a Cora Lautze '11 (#2, photo) header off a free kick by Beth Kenworthy '10 to cut the lead in half 14 minutes into the second period. The Cardinals were unable to come up with the equalizer despite 19 shots at goal in the contest. The RIC netminder came up with nine saves in the game to preserve the win. The Cardinals will look to end their string of one-goal losses by getting back to the winning side of the ledger when Colby comes to town for a NESCAC game Sat., Oct. 6.
