Marissa Trevisan '09 Picks Good Time for First Goal This Season with Game-Winner vs. Bates
The Cardinals knocked in a pair of second-half goals to capture a 2-0 decision over Bates Sat., Oct. 13. Marissa Trevisan '09 (#9, photo by SteveMcLaughlinPhotography.com) scored the first off a cross from Elena Bertocci '09 while Sam Blank '09 banged home the second off a rebound of a shot by Dasha Battelle '11. The combination of Gavi Elkind '09 and Andrea Giuliano '09 accounted for 10 saves in the Wesleyan net. Wesleyan has been very consistent defensively this season as the team had yet to yield more than two goals in any contest. However, in the team's latest start, a home game with Eastern Connecticut Tues., Oct. 16, the Cardinals became the Warriors sixth straight victim as Eastern has taken each of its last six outings via shutout. Eastern prevailed, 3-0, with all the goals coming in the second half, the last two in the final seven minutes with the Cardinals pressing for the equalizer. Wesleyan travels to Amherst for its next game on Sat., Oct. 20.
