Sam Blank '09 Named to all-NESCAC Second Team After Tying for Team Lead in Scoring

Following Wesleyan's 3-10-1 season in 2007, which included a 2-6-1 NESCAC mark, Sam Blank '09 (#8, photo by SteveMcLaughlinPhotography.com) was chosen a second-team all-NESCAC honoree by the NESCAC coaches. Blank tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals and an assist for seven points. She was one of just three players to start all 14 games in 2007. She started each game in 2006 as well and played in 10 games her freshman season with nine starts. Over her 38 games played, Blank has netted six goals along with two assists for 14 points. Also honored following the 2007 campaign was forward Marissa Trevisan '09 (#9, photo insert upper right courtesy of SteveMcLaughlinPhotography.com). A hard worker whose one goal this season was the game-winner in a 2-0 decision over Bates, Trevisan was named third-team all-New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Wesleyan just missed out on a spot in the NESCAC tournament this year, tied with Conn. College for the seventh and final position but the Cardinals' overtime loss to the Camels gave Conn the tie-breaker. Nine of Wesleyan's 10 losses in 2007 came by only one goal as the team played tough against all the top teams in the conference, including the three NCAA qualifiers Williams, Tufts and Bowdoin (all 1-0 setbacks).
