Cardinals Pick up Third Win of the Fall as #2 Doubles Grace Smith '14 & Lauren Jacobs '15 Remains Unbeaten
With the #2 doubles tandem of Grace Smith '14 (left-side photo) and Lauren Jacobs '15 (photo lower right) combining for an 8-2 victory at Mount Holyoke Wed., Sept. 21, the Cardinals took two of three doubles matches and five of the six singles affairs to post a 7-2 win. The team, now 3-1 on the year, has two dual matches remaining this fall with the next one slated for Sun., Sept. 25 at Roger Williams. Smith and Jacobs are now 4-0 on the season in doubles play. Every Cardinal contributed to the triumph over the Lyons as Smith, Jacobs and Kiley Robbins '14 (photo upper right) all won at singles and doubles, with Robbins joining Sarah Miller '13 for a hard-fought 9-7 win at #1 before she captured her #3 singles match. Smith won at #1 singles and Jacobs proved victorious at #4 singles. Also winning in singles was #5 Kaitlyn Clark '14 and #6 Hannah Berkman '12. Robbins and Berkman both needed a tie-breaker to win their second sets as all five singles wins came via straight sets.
