Sarah Miller '12 Rolls to Fifth Straight-Set Singles Wins as She Goes Unbeaten in Florida


Wesleyan posted five win in as many matches during its training trip to Orlando, Fla. including three impressive wins on the last three days, taking down Division I U. of South Dakota, 8-1, Tues., March 10; Bryn Mawr, 9-0, Wed., March 11; and Christopher Newport, 9-0, Thurs., March 12. 

Sarah Miller '12 (photo) made short work of her matches at #2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 vs. S.D.; 6-2, 6-0 vs. Bryn Mawr; and 6-0, 6-0 vs. Christopher Newport as she went 5-0 in Florida without yielding more than two games in any of her 10 sets played with a 60-7 margin in games. She also teamed with Anika Fischer '10 for five wins at #1 doubles down south.

Over the last three matches, Wesleyan singles players dropped just two sets as #4 Meredith Holmes '10 also went 5-0. The doubles pair of Casey Simchik '10 and Ana Alvarado '12 joined Miller and Fischer with a perfect record at #3.

Wesleyan will be off from match action for a couple of weeks before hitting the home courts Sun., March 29 in a NESCAC match vs. Colby.
