Cards Captured Seven Titles Among 18 Events at Conn. College Invitational for 2nd-Place Finish
Opening the outdoor season at the five-team Conn. College Invitational Sat., March 21, Wesleyan collected seven first-place finishes to place second with 149 team points. The host Camels won the meet with 168 points.
Ravenna Neville '10 (photo) won both distance events as she edged teammate Liz Wheatley '09 by 0.19 seconds in the 1500m race, timed in 4:56.70, while her winning margin in the 5000m race was about one second over a Conn. College rival. Her winning time was 18:20.93. With Lisa Sussman '09 coming in third in the 1500m, Wesleyan had two events of domination as Wesleyan went 1-2-3 in the 800m run with Jess Levin '11, Lilly Fesler '11 and Julia Frieze '12 providing the respective finishes.
Sussman had her own first-place finish, winning the 400m (1:02.04). Other top prizes came from Kathryn Kulowski '11 (high jump), Fesler (triple jump) and the Cardinals' 4x400m relay of Fesler, Sussman, Helen DeKorne '12 and Frieze.
For its next meet, Wesleyan heads north to Hartford Sat., March 28 to take part in the Trinity Invitational.
