Julia Mark '13 Places 16th in Women's XC Regional for All-N.E. Honors, Qualifies for NCAA Meet
Earning all-New England Division III honors for the first time in her career, Julia Mark '13 (photo courtesy of Kevin Morris Photographer) took 16th place in a field of 367 runners to carry the Cardinals to a solid eighth-place finish among 51 competing teams in the New England Division III Championship hosted by Westfield St. Sat, Nov. 10. It was an outstanding improvement for both Mark and the Cardinals as Wesleyan took 12th of 51 a year ago and Mark was 42nd. Mark is a likely selection for an NCAA individual spot as the top two teams from each region and the next seven individuals not on those teams automatically qualify for the NCAAs, which will be held in Terre Haute, Indiana Sat, Nov. 17. With MIT and Williams wrapping up the team spots, and Middlebury a shoo-in for an at-large team bid, the likelihood of a fourth team qualifier from New England, Bates, is quite strong. Should Bates make the NCAA field, Mark would become the seventh and final individual qualifier from the region.
