Leslie Weinberg and Robert Bresnick, artistic collaborators for the past twenty years, are the co-founders of both Azdak's Garden and Puppetsweat Theater. Ms. Weinberg was the first woman accepted into the MFA program in puppetry at the University of Connecticut under Professor Frank Ballard. Mr. Bresnick received a Fulbright scholarship to study theater in Berlin and was the founder of the Protean Theater in Hartford, CT.
Azdak's Garden, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. It is run by a Board of Directors comprised of artists and academicians affiliated with Yale, Wesleyan, Fairfield and the University of Hartford and the Entertainment Services and Technology Association based in New York City.
Our Company is comprised of puppeteers, dancers, and actors from Connecticut and New York.
Azdak's Garden/Puppetsweat Theater has received grants from the Jim Henson Foundation, the Puppeteers of America Endowment Fund, the Connecticut Humanities Council and the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
