“When people ask about Wesleyan, I hope that you will tell them this is an uncommon place—a place of the highest standards whose doors are open to all on the basis of merit, rather than ability to pay. The work we do is critical. Its value cannot be estimated, nor can the encouragement your commitment provides.”

With these words President Douglas Bennet ’59 framed the case for Wesleyan at the outset of our recently completed $250 million campaign (1997-2004). Thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends, the ambitious goal was beaten by a wide margin and the many benefits of your gifts are evident across campus.
