Counseling and Psychological Services

Individual Counseling

Students may participate in individual counseling for 10 sessions per academic year. We can be somewhat flexible with this session limit on a case-by-case basis, but in order to meet the needs of the student population we cannot accommodate requests for long-term intensive psychotherapy. If a student seeks this mode of treatment, we can help locate a community provider.  Please call 860.685.2910 to schedule an appointment.

No Show Policy

Beginning Fall 2012 a $10 no show fee will be assessed to any student failing to notify the office of cancellation within 24 hours of appointment. The fee will be billed directly to student accounts after a second missed appointment.  Students will be reminded of the policy after a first missed appointment via email.

Urgent Concerns

Acutely stressful situations often create feelings of intense distress, depression, anxiety, or helplessness.  When these circumstances arise, CAPS has limited availability to see students on a walk-in basis.  In the event of an emotional crisis, students should call 860.685.2910 and clearly state they are experiencing an urgent situation.  If an emergency occurs after business hours or on the weekend, students should call the same number and follow the prompts to reach the on-call clinician.
