Connecting Majors to Careers
Your choice of academic major is one of the most important decisions you will make in college, yet, it will not affect your career as much as you may think! A college major does not automatically open or close doors to any particular field, industry, or profession. When it comes to the practical strategies for starting a career, it is the excellent liberal arts education you receive, plus experience, that can make all the difference! Wesleyan alumni go on to do remarkable things with every major Wesleyan has to offer.
For each major that interests you in the list below, choose "Summary Handout" to find an outline of potential career options, typical employers, and strategies designed to facilitate career entry. Choose "Web Sites" to find a list of recommended sites that provide information about listed majors and related careers.
Keep in mind that the "Handout" sheets and Web sites are representative of typical career paths associated with each major and not a comprehensive list. Explore several Handouts and Web sites from multiple majors to help you learn about a range of career opportunities.
Disclaimers: Please note that the pages listed under "Web Sites" are not maintained by the Career Center but are provided as a convenience. Also, Wesleyan does not offer all of the majors listed below; however, the Career Center has provided the additional majors for research and information purposes.
