WESLEYAN TUITION FOR WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY CREDIT
While studying abroad through the auspices of the OIS students are fully enrolled at Wesleyan in the category of non-resident study (NRS). The credits earned from coursework abroad appear on their transcript as Wesleyan credits and these credits allow students to make normal progress toward a Wesleyan degree. OIS study abroad participants may use their financial aid to defray the cost of their semester or year, just as they would on campus, and they have access to the same support available to them on the home campus. For all intents and purposes, they are on a Wesleyan campus abroad.
For all these reasons, Wesleyan students pay Wesleyan tuition while enrolled at Wesleyan on a program abroad. Room and board fees are discussed below.
The formulae by which program costs are assessed and billed vary considerably. Students intending to participate on a program not administered by Wesleyan will therefore review their personal budget with the Assistant Director of Study Abroad, Gail Winter (firstname.lastname@example.org or x3006), in the OIS.
Wesleyan covers charges related to all activities required as part of the academic program.
For third-party programs, the program charges are billed to Wesleyan and Wesleyan bills the student. Students pay any program application fees and nonrefundable advance deposits directly to the program.
Wesleyan will credit students’ accounts for any nonrefundable deposit paid when student accounts are figured.
Eligible students should apply for financial aid directly to Wesleyan's Financial Aid Office.
FINANCIAL PROCEDURES RELATED TO SPECIFIC TYPES OF PROGRAMS
- Programs that list tuition charges separately from room and board charges (i.e., the program provides housing and meals but lists them as separate items):
Wesleyan bills the student for Wesleyan tuition and the actual cost of room and board, as set by the program. The student is responsible for airfare and insurance.
- Programs whose fee includes tuition charges separately from housing charges, but does not include meals:
Wesleyan bills the student for Wesleyan tuition and the actual cost of housing. The student is responsible for meals, airfare and insurance.
- Programs that charge students tuition only, leaving them to pay for their own room and board independently):
Wesleyan bills the student for Wesleyan tuition only. Students are responsible for their own housing, meals, airfare and other non-tuition charges.
