In the first year, this stipend derives from a teaching assistantship. The first year student start in August and are paid for 9 month period, which 2007/08, is $16,590 for Natural Science/Mathematics. In later academic years, students may be supported by research assistantships where funds are available, or by further teaching assistantships.
