The Chemistry Department participates in an interdisciplinary program in
molecular biophysics with the Department of Molecular Biology and
Biochemistry (MB&B) and the Department of Physics. The program, supported by
an NIH Training Grant, provides a course of study and research that overlaps
the disciplinary boundaries of chemistry, physics, biology, and molecular
biology. Undergraduate students majoring in any of these disciplines of
chemistry can pursue a concentration in molecular biophysics by electing two
courses in molecular biophysics and pursuing independent research with
participating faculty. Generally, the elective courses can also be used to
fulfill requirements for the major. In addition, students are encouraged to
attend the weekly interdepartmental journal club in molecular biophysics and
the annual research retreat of the program. Students interested in this
program should contact any the the participating faculty. |
