College of Intigrative Sciences

Admission to CIS

To apply to the CIS, you must go through the major declaration process in your portfolio.  This will direct you to additional application materials you need to complete, which include:

  1. A description of the proposed project
  2. A letter of reference from the proposed faculty mentor, and a second letter from another reference

Students are eligible if they have chosen an NSM major and enrolled in at least on semester of the Research Frontiers Seminar (CIS 221 or 222).  Students should have an interest in interdisciplinary research.

Normally, the deadline for applications is the Friday immediately prior to spring break.  Please allow time to prepare your project description prior to the application deadline.

If you are not admitted to the CIS linked major, your application for summer support will be transferred and considered for support through the CIS Research in the Sciences program; you need not apply to both programs.
