Andrew Szegedy-Maszak is Wesleyan's first Distinguished Teaching Fellow. In recognition of Wesleyan's most outstaning teachers, the Distinguished Teaching Fellowship offers the recipient the opportunity to teach a course outside of his/her usual departmental offerings. Andy will be offering a seminar on "Photography and Socal Movements." Andrew has published widely on Greek history and historiography and on the history of photography. His current project is a study of the representation of classical sites by 19th-century photographers and travel writers; among his recent publications is the co-athored Antiquity and Photography (2005), which won the Association of American Publishers Award for Excellence in Scholarly Publishing.
